So amazingly frustrated

February 6, 2008

I am so amazingly frustrated right now with the entire process of signing up to be a substitute teacher that it isn’t even funny.

It has been 3 weeks now since I turned in my paperwork, had my fingerprints ran, and paid my money, and still I have heard NOTHING back.

The secretary at the school where I am slotted to do the long term position starting around the 25th tried to find out what is going on, on Monday, only to be told that the lady had not heard anything yet, and that it was a problem with the sheriff’s department.

I called and sent an email today trying to find out more, because today was the first day in 10 school days that I have not had a call to go sub at one school or another, that I have had to turn down. I figured it out yesterday and this delay has cost us about $600, and there is nothing that I can do about it.

Then add in the frustration that the best way to get a job for the fall is to have my face and name out there by being in the schools, so I have lost 10 school days as far as that goes.

I haven’t given up on applying for jobs outside of the school district, but with the economy the way it is, jobs are scarce and there are a million people applying for 5 jobs.
